In an effort to give you more tips on how to have an Enviously Green wedding I will be presenting you the flowers of the seasons. When you use seasonal flowers for your wedding you avoid energy waste. Plants or flowers that are shipped in from across the country have a negative impact on the environment. Sometimes they are coming from areas where the wages are not fair either. Also, just because you can find a specific type of flower from a local grower at the time of your wedding, it doesn't mean they are in season. They could have been grown in a green house, where energy would have been put out to keep it warm, therefore making them not so green.
To start off, here are some of the plants available naturally during winter in Florida.
Forget-me-nots
Roses & Gerber Daisies
Amaryllis
Orchids
Daffodils (my fave, and so many different types & colors)
Your local nurseries will be able to help you further in finding other seasonal flowers. Remember they don't have to be flowers either, succulents are the latest trend in weddings.
Using seasonal flowers is just one way to make your wedding greener. Not everyone is ready for an entirely green wedding, there are just some things that you might not want to compromise on. That's fine, just do some green things in your wedding then. Another way to offset the carbon footprint from anything that's not green in your wedding is to donate money to a charity that plants trees.
Thank you for the sweet comment! Your blog is just adorable.
